TC Meetings: Town Council October 2023

The Town Council meets on Monday 30th October – here’s my summary of the items I think you might be most interested in – as always the full Agenda is at the end of the post.

Tender for the ‘Pump Track’

‘Cranbrook Town Council is now looking to appoint a preferred supplier for the design and build of a wheeled sports pump track in the Stone Meadow area of the Country Park in Cranbrook

Council & Country Park Noticeboards

Anecdotally, the Council knows that the noticeboards throughout the town are well used and appreciated by residents who may not be computer literate or who do not have a personal social media presence. Noticeboards provide current and upcoming information for the public and members of the community. This includes but is not limited to community clubs, wellbeing groups, charities and events/activities. In addition to this, noticeboards are a form of media for new and external members of the community. Providing informative details of the area such as Country Park maps, policies, and council contact information

As the town continues to grow, it is suggested that the Council should expand its
network of noticeboards in order to benefit those residents living in the eastern part of the town. A natural additional location appears to be the triangular public open space at the junction of Rush Meadow Road with Yonder Acre Way. It is suggested that the same make and model of noticeboard be purchased again in order to ensure recognisability and a consistent street scene.

Outdoor Gym

The Section 106 agreement relating to the first 3,500 homes dated October 2010
contains an obligation for the East Devon New Community partners to deliver a trim
trail to the index-linked value of £30,000.

The agreed locations of all the play areas, shows the location of the trim trail near basin 2c in the Country Park. That location will also need to accommodate a neighbourhood equipped area for play (NEAP) and the bicycle pump track.

Considering the significant enlargement of basin 2c in the near future to accommodate the drainage requirements resulting from the development of the town centre, there might not be enough space in that location to accommodate the trim trail as well.

The planning team had initially suggested that the trim trail could be relocated to the Ecology Park but there is no reason why it could not be relocated to the proposed location for the outdoor gym opposite Inner Westland in the Stone Meadow area of the Country Park:
