TC Meetings: December 2023 Town Council

The December 2023 Town Council Meeting Agenda and 'things you might be interested in' summary.

The Town Council Meeting is on Monday 11th December, here are the things I think you might find most interesting – the full Agenda is at the end of the post:

Review of Financial Regulations

Following a recent issue with the lift at the Younghayes Centre, it was determined the regulations need a review as the repair cost prevented it being dealt with without waiting for a Council Meeting. It was therefore agreed at this meeting to discuss and propose a way to allow emergency works to take place in a sensible manner as it was felt it unreasonable that those with or needing the use of the lift were unable to do so for a longer period of time due to this restriction. A change to the policy is proposed and can be seen in the download below.

Community Garden

An update on the Community Garden project to date and how it will be managed as it progresses. Report below:

Villages in Action

Villages in Action approached the Town Council in October 2023 with the aim of
introducing family shows to Cranbrook. More information is available on the Villages
in Action website at https://villagesinaction.co.uk/ and the trailer of the proposed show is below:

Review of ‘Equality and Diversity Policy’ by the Policy Review Working Group

A proposal was put out by Cllr Goudie to change the policy to include new wording:

Councillors and council personnel are required to dress casually and in accordance with their officially recognised gender status as stated in their passport.

Cranbrook Town Council – Policy Review – Item 10 – 11th December 2023

The full wording and background can be seen in the report:

Then in the ‘Part B’ section of the meeting, there are 3 main items (‘Part B’ is the part where the public aren’t able to attend due to the sensitive nature of the discussions – which usually means it includes various supplier quotations or commercially sensitive information):

  • Electricity Supply Renewal for the Younghayes Centre
  • Lift Maintenance for the Younghayes Centre
  • Legionella Risk Assessment and Testing for the Younghayes Centre

In all cases it is to review quotations and options for appointing relevant suppliers
